A sea of devotion and faith filled the streets on October 12, 2025, as thousands of Zamboangue\u00f1os joined the Grand Procession from the Metropolitan Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception to the Fort Pilar Shrine, marking the highlight of the Zamboanga Hermosa Festival 2025 and the 291st Feast of Nuestra Se\u00f1ora La Virgen del Pilar, the beloved patroness of the city.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

At exactly 3PM, the faithful walked in solemn prayer, carrying candles, flowers, and images of the Blessed Virgin, while hymns of praise echoed through the streets of downtown Zamboanga. The procession was a moving display of faith, unity, and gratitude \u2014 a centuries-old tradition that continues to define the heart and soul of every Zamboangue\u00f1o.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The procession was followed by a Pontifical Mass at 4:45 p.m., presided over by Most Rev. Julius S. Tonel, D.D., Archbishop of Zamboanga City. In his homily, Archbishop Tonel reminded the faithful of the importance of listening to divine wisdom, saying, \u201cThat\u2019s when we listen to the voice of eternal wisdom. When we listen to Jesus, the source of wisdom, we also hear the voice of the Blessed Ever Virgin Mary \u2014 humble, designful, consecrated from birth, pure, and whose faith is always faithful to God\u2019s command.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Present during the Mass were Mayor Khymer Adan Olaso together with his wife and mother, Vice Mayor Beng Climaco, and city councilors Fred Atilano, Kim Villaflores, and BG Guingona, joining thousands of devotees in thanksgiving and prayer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As the night deepened, the celebration reached its spectacular finale at the Fort Pilar Shrine complex, where the sky burst into life with the First Drone Show of the City Government and Fireworks Display that left the crowd in awe. The colorful lights illuminated the shrine and the sea beyond, symbolizing faith and hope shining brightly over Zamboanga. Smiles and cheers filled the air as devotees marveled at the breathtaking show, capturing the spirit of unity and festivity that defines the Hermosa celebration.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Grand Procession and Feast of Nuestra Se\u00f1ora La Virgen del Pilar once again served as a powerful reminder of Zamboanga\u2019s deep devotion to its patroness. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
