A total of 1,050 solo parents in Zamboanga City received essential Christmas relief packages from the local government on Monday, December 1, 2025 reaffirming the city’s commitment to supporting families led by solo fathers and mothers.
The distribution was held at the Mayor Vitaliano D. Agan Coliseum in Tetuan, where Mayor Khymer Olaso and Vice Mayor Beng Climaco personally graced the ceremony. Both officials highlighted the invaluable role of solo parents in nurturing love, resilience and stability within their households despite daily challenges.
Each beneficiary received a package containing canned goods, sacks of rice, cash assistance and raffle prizes, benefitting 350 solo mothers, 350 solo fathers (erpats) and 350 other solo-parent beneficiaries.



The initiative was spearheaded by the City Social Welfare and Development Office (CSWDO) in collaboration with various partner stakeholders, ensuring the timely distribution of aid ahead of the Christmas festivities.
Adding a heartwarming touch to the celebration, Mayor Olaso serenaded the crowd, singing Christmas songs as a gesture of appreciation and solidarity with the beneficiaries.
Both Olaso and Climaco assured the city government’s full support to programs intended for the welfare of solo parents, underscoring the essence of compassion, dignity and inclusive growth for all families.
