Mascota de Zamboanga, fashion show and competition of chavacano-inspired wardrobes took center stage anew Monday night, October 6 highlighting day 10 of the Zamboanga Hermosa Festival 2025.
Mascota is a mainstay in the annual Hermosa Festival, the city’s grandest celebration that highlights the unique blend of multi-cultural heritage of Zamboanga and held in honor of Nuestra Senora La Virgen del Pilar.

1st Place – Melvin Maverick Oyao
2nd Place – Jonard Bazan
3rd Place – Hamza Panghulu
4th Place – Ardamin Hashim
5th Place – Erich Miñoza



Mayor Khymer Olaso hailed the Mascota de Zamboanga as a celebration of the city’s unique identity, a symbol of resilience, and a tribute to the creativity and talent of its people.
“It is a reminder that our city’s beauty lies not just in its landscapes, but also in the beauty of its people, its culture and its heritage.”
The mayor likewise thanked the participants, the city’s top couturiers for their passion and for continuously improving their craft.
Vice Mayor Beng Climaco, Tourism Undersecretary Myra Paz Abubakar and some members of the City Council and special guests graced the event held at a local hotel.
The Mascota de Zamboanga competition was organized by the city government in collaboration with the Fashion Designers Association of Zamboanga (FDAZ). (CMO-PIO)
